Being the relative of an international superstar can sometimes place you yourself in the spotlight, as is often the case with Drake’s dad, Dennis Graham. Papa Graham recently starred in the new music video for Canadian brand Arkells‘ song, aptly titled “Drake’s Dad.”
The track was inspired by a real life encounter with Dennis when the band was in Graham’s backyard of Memphis. In speaking on the experience, Arkells frontman Max Kerman had this to say:
“Last summer I was on a road trip with my best friends through the American south, and in the magic of the night, we happened to meet Drake’s dad – Dennis Graham – in a Memphis bar…He couldn’t have been more gracious, especially given that there were 16 of us, drunk on friendship and cheap American beer. This chance encounter inspired this song.”
Appropriately, the music video for “Drake’s Dad” features Dennis and the members of Arkells partying all across Memphis. You can look for the track to appear on the Canadian group’s forthcoming album, Morning Report, releasing on August 5.
This isn’t the first time that Dennis Graham has been featured in a music video, however. Most notably, Dennis can be seen in Drake’s visual for “Worst Behavior,” which was also shot in Memphis.
